Door handles from manufacturer Fred Duncombe Ltd are now coated with the biocidal product Hygienilac from Powder Finishes.
Kevin O’Reilly, sales director at Fred Duncombe said: “Using a protective powder coating containing Hygienilac on our door hardware will make a really positive contribution to the fight for better hygiene in hospitals, care homes, schools and catering establishments. We have been impressed with the performance capabilities of Hygienilac. It has a certified kill rate of 99.9% over a 24 hour period for most of the major bugs around, including C diff, MRSA, salmonella and E. coli, as certified by Bodycote Lawlabs. It does not contain silver technology (unlike some competitor products) and is therefore completely UV stable, which means it will keep on working for the life of the powder coating and provides an effective secondary support to existing cleaning regimes in the fight against bacterial contamination.”
Available on the Webb Lloyd Design levers, pull handles and accessories, the finish can be either clear or in a range of colours. The coating can also be applied to the company’s Exidor panic and emergency exit hardware range.
