IHEEM’s 2007 Healthcare Estates Conference and Exhibition, staged in Harrogate on 16 and 17 October, was a resounding success according to visitor and exhibitor feedback received at the Institute’s stand at the show.
Conference sessions, covering a broad range of subjects, were well attended. Addressing delegates at the start of the conference, Phil Nedin, IHEEM president, stressed the comprehensive nature of its programme – spanning best practice, energy and sustainability, infection control, policy, strategy, design, and healthcare engineering.
He also told the conference that although the Institute continued to be financially strong, there was still a need to recruit new members.
Currently, it was “unfashionable” to belong to an institute, but such thinking would probably only last short term, he considered.
IHEEM remained strong in its niche position in the healthcare sector and it should go forward in an extremely focused way, taking the lead on technical issues and developing good practice policy, Phil Nedin stated.
