Kier has been appointed by the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust to deliver a new £97.1 m Ambulatory Care and Diagnostics Centre (ACAD), procured through the P22 framework, at Heartlands Hospital in Bordesley Green East.
The construction and infrastructure provider will construct a new 18,000 m² four-storey building that will provide facilities including 120 consultation rooms, 26 specialist audiology and ear nose and throat rooms, ultrasound and X-ray rooms, and well as CT and MRI scanners. The new ACAD building will care for half a million patients per year, and has been designed to provide a modern, spacious environment purpose-built to meet the needs of patients, with dementia-friendly and accessible design features. Works are scheduled to start on site this summer, with the completion due in 2022.
Kier is currently on site delivering the transformation programme at Heatherwood Hospital in Berkshire. The £98m programme will, the company says, ‘provide first-class facilities for Ascot and the surrounding area’, with the site set to specialise in planned, non-emergency procedures.
