Balfour Beatty Construction and partners Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Trust, Investors in the Community and Kier Facilities Management have announced formal close on the £36 m Northampton Mental Health PFI project.
Balfour Beatty Construction general manager Dave Ronan said: “We are delighted to have reached this significant milestone and are looking forward to creating a facility that will ensure the Trust achieves its ambitions for the highest standards of patient care.”
In two other recent hospital projects Balfour Beatty Construction has undertaken topping out at a canteen being built at Glasgow’s new Stobhill Hospital, and at the New Victoria Hospital on the city’s south side. Both ceremonies were attended by Scottish Government Minister for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon, who trowelled off the final section of concrete at the Stobhill canteen site before visiting the New Victoria Hospital site, where she commended the workforce on both hospitals on their “excellent progress” to date.
Balfour Beatty is construction partner to Canmore Partnership in the PPP concession for the two Glasgow hospitals, working for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The project involves some £180 m of design and construction work, and is due for completion in Spring 2009.
