Portakabin has worked closely with the estates team at Dunfermline’s Queen Margaret Hospital and the hospital’s architect to design a new standalone ante-natal unit in just 16 weeks after hospital chiefs decided more space was needed in the main building for a new medical admissions unit.
Featuring consulting and treatment rooms, an ultrasound scan suite, daycare room, administration offices, a reception, two waiting areas, a children’s play area, toilets and staff changing area, as well as a base for the region’s community midwives, the new building is formed from Portakabin’s Ultima modules; Portakabin also fitted a canopy over the main entrance door, added skylights above the central waiting area and supplied a fire alarm system.
Portakabin delivered and installed the modules onto pre-prepared foundation, with much of the fitting out completed prior to delivery, and the interior and connection to services completed once the facility was in place.
