The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) has procured Ingenica Solutions' 360 IM technology ‘for a 360-degree view of costs to track and trace stock, and to improve visibility and control across the supply chain’.
Ingenica says the technology's adoption at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General, and Glenfield Hospitals, will help UHL ‘meet the vision of the Government’s Scan4Safety programme, accelerate the adoption of GS1 standards, and facilitate patient-level costing at the point of use’. Ingenica Solutions’ 360 IM will be implemented in agreed phases, beginning with the largest of the three hospitals, the Leicester Royal Infirmary. The solution is being rolled out to theatres and critical care departments across all three hospitals during phase one, with wards being considered in the future.
By facilitating product tracking and tracing across the Trust, the goal is to reduce stock and improve visibility to support a reduction in wastage and ensure the correct stock levels in different locations. There are numerous storage locations across the Trust, and Ingenica Solutions will work with the organisation to recommend options for reducing the number to free up space and retain control of what is ordered and when.
Trust representatives including deputy head of Operations for the Clinical Management Group, Claire Jones-Manning, senior Category manager within Procurement, Karen White, and head of Finance Costing, Steve Lee, evaluated the Ingenica system against other options, and said: “We selected Ingenica Solutions 360 IM because of how innovative the system is, the flexibility of the solution to grow and expand with our needs, and because of its proven efficiencies.”
Steve Saunders, Sales manager, Ingenica Solutions said, “The ability to track and trace medical consumables, patients, and equipment, will facilitate efficiencies and transform standards of care at every point in the patient journey at The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. We are very much looking forward to supporting the Trust in adopting better supply chain processes and practices, which is more important today than ever.”
