Authors wanted by DH

The Department of Health is seeking good writers from the healthcare estates and facilities sector who are passionate about healthcare planning and design, up-to-date with the latest healthcare building engineering technology, and keen to share their knowledge, to help it shape upcoming titles in its successful HBN and HTM publication series.

Interested individuals who meet these criteria, enjoy team-working, and can translate complex, technical data into clear, jargon-free text, should email Julie Harris of the Central Office of Information at: Julie.Harris@coi.gsi.gov.uk, quoting reference “DH author (HEJ)”, supplying a copy of their CV and explaining, in no more than 300 words, their suitability for the task, specifying which titles particularly interest them. Also provided should be their daily rate, and examples of any applicable published work.

Other key attributes needed include good analytical and organisational skills, a methodical project management approach, the ability to work with DH advisors, to collate complex information, and to write clearly and concisely.

Help is needed on HBNs on cancer care, mental health, diagnostic imaging, day surgery, endoscopy, ambulance services, and supplies, storage and distribution; and with HTMs on lifts, pneumatic tube transport systems, building management systems, and communications.

Successful applicants can expect “good rates and reasonable expenses”.
