Gerflor has supplied over 7000 m2 of its ‘high-quality flooring’, and a selection of Gradus handrails and corner guards. for a complete re-development and refurbishment of the site and building at Yorkshire’s Whitby Community Hospital, undertaken under a ProCure 22 project.
The company explains that its flooring and interior finishing solutions are treated with patented surface treatments that ‘provide an unrivalled level of chemical and stain resistance’. Gerflor said: “The world-class vinyl and linoleum collections are perfectly suited to hard-working healthcare spaces, including those subject to intensive 24-hour movement of beds, trolleys, wheelchairs, and heavy medical equipment.”
Gradus, meanwhile, is a manufacturer of ‘comprehensive contract interior solutions’ – including stair edgings, floor trims, barrier matting, and wall protection. Gradus solutions are reportedly ‘proven to enhance the longevity of a building, while reducing long-term maintenance costs’. It works ‘in partnership’ with the healthcare sector ‘to ensure that buildings are safe and accessible for all users’.
Whitby Hospital is a community hospital that provides inpatient, outpatient, and community services. Medical Architecture has overseen and masterminded the major redevelopment project there. Gerflor explained: “The newly configured community hospital – which Medical Architecture designed – bridges the gap between home and specialist hospital care, through the delivery of both outpatient and inpatient services in Whitby.”
