Gradus has supplied and installed a range of bespoke wall protection solutions throughout the new Same Day Emergency Care building at the Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester.
The building’s construction was given the go-ahead by Cheshire West and Chester Council after plans were submitted for the project in January 2021. Work on the £15 m project then commenced in September 2021. The Same Day Emergency Care building will be attached to the existing A&E department, enabling medical professionals to offer rapid diagnosis and treatment for patients referred by their GP or Accident & Emergency, and without patients having to stay in hospital overnight.
Specialist in wall protection systems for the healthcare sector, Gradus, supplied and installed a variety of wall protection solutions for the new facility – including CHR160 combination rails in the colour Pebble, which combine a handrail and a wall guard element in a single profile. The system provides wall protection against impacts from wheeled traffic, while offering a comfortable grip handrail to give reassuring pedestrian support and guidance.
Gradus CGH5090 High Impact Corner Guards were also chosen and installed to protect corners, which are the most vulnerable area of a building, while WGS200 and WGA100 Wall Guards, again all in Pebble, were used to protect the walls from impact and abrasion damage.
