Newcastle Trust’s long-term tenancy at The Curve

Independent property consultancy, Naylors Gavin Black, has secured Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a long-term tenant at The Curve in the city.

The Trust said: “The decision to expand our presence at The Curve has been driven by staff wellbeing and a desire to provide colleagues with a modern, flexible workspace, a central location that reduces travel time for our community colleagues serving the west of Newcastle – and most importantly – achieved good value for the public purse.”

The Curve is now the new home for the Trust’s Community Nursing Teams (District Nurses/Health Visitors, Community Rapid Response Team (CRRT), and Community Midwifes) supporting the needs of the community in the West of the City.

The move follows a significant investment in refurbishment by the building’s owners, IGP Investments, led by Naylors Gavin Black, who also facilitated the initial purchase of The Curve in January 2022. The property management team was appointed to advise on the building’s operational running. The firm says the refurbishment works have created ‘a more collaborative environment’ within the three-story glass fronted building.

Jess Ross, associate partner at Naylors Gavin Black, said: “Many businesses are reconsidering their location in light of the changing workplace expectations of employees. In the light of what has become the ‘flight-to-quality,’ occupiers are seeking highly specified offices, which not only have the facilities to allow people to do their work, but also provide additional amenities like high quality communal spaces, low carbon transport connections’ and collaborative environments.”

Harry Black, CEO at Yelverton Properties, asset managers of The Curve, said: “We are delighted to welcome additional NHS personnel to The Curve. It is fitting that an organisation devoted to improving the health and welfare of the nation has recognised our focus on creating a workplace that has wellbeing at its core. Our ambition was to create somewhere we would want to work ourselves, and with the support of Naylors Gavin Black, we have done just that.”
