In addition to the recently announced 2023 Corrigendum to BS 7671:2018 +A2, the IHEEM Electrical Technical Platform (ETP) is currently engaged in working through potential new work items for the next edition of BS 7671, which – it is anticipated – will be published in early 2026.
IHEEM ETP Chair, Paul Harris, said: “While this may seem to be a long time in the future, IHEEM, which is represented at the JPEL committees by members of the ETP, is required to have all new work proposals submitted for discussion prior to the 3 November 2023 in order that they be considered for the next amendment. The ETP is therefore looking to our membership for comments or practical issues which members believe should be addressed in the next amendment of BS 7671. While IHEEM focuses on matters relating to Section 710 Medical locations within BS 7671, it should be noted that the whole of the standard applies to the electrical installations we design, install, or maintain. We ask that initially you respond with any comments, queries, or topics for consideration, to me via Clair Wilkins (Platform Secretary) at clair.wilkins@iheem.org.uk.
“We intend to keep members informed on the actions taken and progress made with the development of BS 7671 on an ongoing basis, including at October’s Healthcare Estates 2023 conference. Many thanks for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.”
