P+HS Architects has appointed Senior architect, Martha Mackinnon, as the practice’s Design lead.
The firm said: “Martha Mackinnon has shown her passion for every aspect of building design since she joined P+HS Architects almost 10 years ago. Whether it’s a tiny break-out space, or a £40 m hospital, Martha brings equal ambition to every project, evidenced in some of her award-winning work at Foss Park (a new mental healthcare facility in York for adults and older adults for Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust) and Hammerson House (a care home in North London created for Nightingale Hammerson).”
Martha Mackinnon joins colleague, Patrick Kelly, in her new role leading on Design at P+HS, and is ‘looking forward to championing excellence’ and sharing her extensive knowledge across the practice. She said: “As a practice we have a complete approach to design. We create buildings that not only function efficiently, but environments where service-users can find respite and healing, and where clinical staff feel enabled by the buildings design. Designing healthcare facilities is challenging, and every design element must be carefully considered to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment. The Design lead provides the opportunity to ensure that the user journey is always at the forefront of our decision making, and that we continue to create healing environments that promote wellbeing and recovery.”
