'Kinetic energy’ key system for advanced access control

Abloy UK has launched Abloy Pulse, which it describes as ‘a revolutionary kinetic energy key system that seamlessly integrates advanced access control functionality with traditional mechanical key-based products, enhancing reliability, security and efficiency’.

The system harnesses kinetic energy, getting its power when the key is inserted into the cylinder. This means that keys are maintenance-free as they do not rely on batteries or external power sources. Abloy UK says this combination of mechanical durability and electronic flexibility ‘offers the best of both worlds, providing a robust and reliable solution for modern security needs’.

The company added: “One of the standout features of Abloy Pulse is its off-the-shelf programmability. Locksmiths can programme the keys immediately upon purchase, allowing for same-day service for customers. This eliminates the traditional wait times associated with custom key creation, ensuring that customers can secure their properties quickly and efficiently. This feature is particularly beneficial for emergency situations, or for clients who require swift access solutions.”

Managing the Abloy Pulse system is reportedly straightforward and efficient, thanks to a user-friendly SaaS web application. This platform allows security and facilities managers to effortlessly issue new keys, revoke access, and monitor security settings. The intuitive interface is designed to make these processes as simple as possible. The digital management system also supports remote access, ‘providing flexibility and control from anywhere’.

Abloy UK added: “In addition to its practical benefits, Abloy Pulse represents a step towards more sustainable security solutions. By eliminating the need for batteries, the system reduces electronic waste and aligns with environmentally friendly practices.”
