Washbasin wastes pose an infection risk, with the basins frequently getting clogged with debris and residue, which promotes bacterial development and requires regular unblocking.
Delabie explains that that they also retain water which can stagnate, ‘leading to unpleasant smells’. In response, the company has designed a ‘water-free hygienic waste with an ingenious membrane that prevents odours’.
It explained: “The clever design of this hygienic water-free waste incorporates a smooth interior, with nowhere for hair and other residue to adhere. Maintenance is simple. Unlike conventional wastes, there is no need to dismantle the water level. Simply remove the dome to access the waste and clean with a brush. The simplicity of access and handling saves valuable time. Made from silicone, the water-free waste’s membrane is not only easy to clean, but also exceptionally durable. “
Delabie’s water-free hygienic waste can be cut to size to fit any type of sink. It connects directly to the pipework, avoiding the bulk of a siphon trap, and freeing up space under the sink, especially for wheelchair users. Complying with the European standard EN 274, it has an evacuation flow rate of 36 litres / min.
