New approaches to combating infection

The effective management of healthcareassociated infections, with a number of presentations promising to unveil new approaches to combating the spread of bacteria such as Clostridium difficile and MRSA, will be the key theme of the Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals’ 34th Annual Conference and Exhibition this summer.

Being held at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel from 3-5 June, the event will include an opening keynote by Scottish Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing Nicola Sturgeon (pictured) setting the scene for discussions on all aspects of cleanliness and the management of HAIs within the patient environment, and providing the backdrop for topical and practical conference sessions. Other presentations will include an intriguingly titled address, “Spore Wars – The Janni fights back – An integrated hygiene approach to C. difficile”, and an introduction to what exhibitor Wetrok AG says is a new “oneway system” for hygienic cleaning that should help cut infection rates.
