A recent new IHEEM member who, having only joined last autumn, says he is already “highly impressed with what the Institute has to offer” and would recommend suitably qualified individuals get in touch to find out how they can benefit from membership, is estates engineering officer at the Luton & Dunstable NHS Trust Pat McDermott.
A multi-skilled engineer with over 27 years’ experience, ranging from robotics, to plc software, to mechanical and electrical engineering, he says he has seen many changes in the industry over the years, and believes “adapting to change and grasping new technology is the way forward”. He has worked in the healthcare sector at the Luton & Dunstable NHS Trust for five years, originally joining as an estates /building supervisor and progressing to estates engineering officer. He is also one of the Trust’s few confidential advisors. Married to Lorraine for 16 years, Pat McDermott has four daughters – Molly, Kelsey, Ciara and Maisy, the last of whom is only two months old.
