A new corporate (Affiliate) category of Institute membership now open to all NHS Trusts offers both an opportunity for more Trust staff to take advantage of the broad range of benefits available to IHEEM members, plus an additional 5% subscription discount for all members employed by the Trust taking up the membership.
At the most recent IHEEM Membership Committee meeting, the first of the new NHS Trust Affiliates were elected to Institute membership (see facing page). IHEEM said: “As an NHS Affiliate member you may benefit from a closer relationship with IHEEM, the relevant learned society for all those working in the healthcare estate and facilities management sector who wish to keep up-to-date with developing technology industry best practice and changing regulations.” IHEEM is licensed by the Engineering CouncilUK to register professional engineers at all levels – Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineer and Engineering technician. Subject to individual membership, this facility is available to all Trust employees with the relevant engineering background and experience. Experienced Institute members may be available as mentors. Under the Trust Affiliate membership scheme, the following additional benefits are available to four named employees:
• Access to estates and facilities specific education and training.
• Continuing professional development and mentoring.
• Notification of local and national events, providing opportunities for benchmarking and exchange of best practice in estates and facilities management.
• Notification of, and discounts on, attending educational seminars and conferences.
• Access to the “Members only” section on the IHEEM website, providing access to a wide range of technical documents and information on professional matters.
• The Institute’s respected technical journal, Health Estate Journal, published 10 times a year.
• An IHEEM “Year at a Glance” wall planner.
The annual subscription rate for NHS Trust Affiliate membership is £305 for 2009, with pro-rata adjustment for partial year memberships. (A 5% discount is available for annual direct debit payment).
