Fairtrade coffee and ‘gourmet’ organic food now on offer at St Richard’s

Peabodys, which first began serving ‘gourmet organic’ Fairtrade coffee and freshly prepared food within hospitals in London in 1997, has recently opened its 12th coffee shop, at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

It says the new shop highlights its ‘commitment to sustainability and quality’, offering a selection of Fairtrade organic coffee and artisan foods, all packaged in fully recyclable and compostable materials. The coffee shop at St Richard’s Hospital is part of a growing partnership with University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, following the successful launch of a coffee shop at Brighton’s Royal Sussex County Hospital in the summer of 2023. Another location opened at Worthing Hospital last November.

At St Richard’s Hospital, Peabodys says it offers ‘an exciting menu that caters to a variety of tastes’. The business explained: “Visitors can enjoy a range of hot and cold breakfast options, hearty main meals, hand-stretched pizzas, fresh egg pasta complemented by homemade sauces, and soothing soups. The coffee shop also features an array of toasted paninis, ciabattas, baguettes, mixed salads, fresh fruits, healthy yogurt pots, and signature raw smoothies. To satisfy those with a sweet tooth, freshly baked artisan pastries and delectable cakes are available alongside Fairtrade organic coffees, teas, and seasonal drinks.”

Andrea Burroughs, the Trust’s Associate Commercial Director, added: “We are delighted that Peabodys is opening at St Richard’s Hospital. Our first Peabodys opened at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in July 2023, and has been very successful. Peabodys has specialised in the healthcare sector since its inception, providing quality food and beverages, including Fairtrade organic coffee. Its team takes pride in the quality and sustainability of its offerings, ensuring that the food is healthy, delicious, and freshly prepared.”
