Babor Qureshi (pictured), just appointed by Stephen George + Partners (SGP) as Principal architect in the practice’s Healthcare team, based at its Leeds office, brings over 18 years’ experience to the AJ100 practice, primarily in the healthcare sector – working closely with NHS Trusts and contractors across the UK.
Steve Batson, Studio director, and SGP’s Healthcare team lead, said: “I have worked with Babor for over 20 years, and am delighted to be working with him again. I’m excited to have his technical expertise and healthcare-specific experience within the team. Our aim is to build on SGP’s strong existing portfolio and activities in the healthcare field, which include recently winning a place in four categories on the NHS SBS Healthcare Planning, Construction Consultancy and Ancillary Services (HPCCAS) framework.”
SGP says the new appointee has successfully delivered a variety of healthcare estate projects – from inception to practical completion, ‘working in highly pressurised environments within time and budget constraints, and solely managing high-value projects ranging from £1m - £40m +’.
Babor Qureshi said: “Having worked in the sector for many years, I understand the complexity of healthcare estate management, and the huge pressures the NHS has been under for decades. I will apply my experience in developing client relationships, along with technical knowledge, and the ability to work closely with project managers and contractors, to help deliver buildable facilities that will improve the work life of staff, and the outcomes for patients, for decades to come.”
The extensive portfolio of healthcare-related projects under his belt include acute and secondary care new-build and refurbishment projects, including specialist cancer and radiotherapy facilities, theatres, and diagnostics centres.
Babor Qureshi added: “I plan to share my skills and expertise across the SGP offices, supporting the firm’s continued growth in the health estate sector. I currently mentor Part 3 students on their journey to becoming qualified architects, and am keen to foster the next generation of professionals.”
