Sheffield architect Race Cottam has secured a contract to deliver the first phase of an eight-year programme of improvements for Rotherham Hospital.
The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is embarking on a phased site utilisation development plan to transform the facility’s current accommodation and facilities. Race Cottam will design a new entrance, and develop a programme of ward refurbishments and a series of other improvements, in response to the Trust’s vision, delivering the initial scheme stage with ProCure21 principal supply chain partner BAM Construction. Last year Race Cottam designed the £11 m Oakwell acute mental health unit in Barnsley, described on its opening as “one of the best” by NHS chief executive David Nicholson. The architects have already worked with BAM Construct on the £6.5 m P21 primary care centre at Flagg Court, South Tyneside.
