Dublin event’s topical theme

With recent news of cases of Legionella at an East Kent hospital, a one-day workshop on “Ventilation Systems and water systems” being staged at Dublin’s Croke Park Stadium on 7 October, could hardly have come at a more appropriate time.

The IHEEM-supported event will cover:

• Infection prevention and control building guidelines for acute hospitals in Ireland.
• The Revised Guidelines on the Management of Legionnaires’ Disease in Ireland.
• Health Building Note 04 Supplement 1: Isolation facilities in acute settings.
•  HTM 03 Specialised ventilation for healthcare premises.

The event will be chaired by Dr Robert Cunney, consultant microbiologist. Speakers will include Dr Tom Makin, directorate manager of the Department of Medical Microbiology at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Malcolm Thomas, consulting engineer, and Celine O’Carroll, infection control nurse, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
