Local Partnerships, the body established to support and improve public services and infrastructure at community level, has formally come into operation.
Jointly owned by the Local Government Association and Partnerships UK (the public/private partnership which supports and accelerates the delivery of infrastructure renewal), the organisation will operate at a local level and act as a single source of expert advice on projects and infrastructure delivery “at a time when decentralisation, joined-up working, and greater efficiency, are increasingly important”. It promises to offer support, investment, and advice, on PFI, PPP and other funding mechanisms, and the delivery of major local projects in areas including health and social care, transport, waste, and asset management, “across traditional boundaries” such as those between local authorities and primary care Trusts.
