CIBSE launches latest ‘carbon clean up’

CIBSE has launched its fourth “100 Hours of Carbon Clean Up” campaign (HEJ – September 2008), under which it is encouraging organisations to set aside as much time as possible, and ideally at least 100 hours, during the six-week initiative to reduce their buildings’ carbon emissions.

The official campaign runs only until 15 October, but the goal is to encourage participants to continue with the carbon-reducing initiatives both in the ensuing year and longer-term. As an added incentive 2009 campaign participants can enter for three exclusive awards – “Champion of Carbon-Saving Champions”, “Best Carbon Saving Campaign” and “Best Carbon Saving Campaign for an SME” – within CIBSE’s 2010 Low Carbon Performance Awards scheme, for which the entry deadline is 30 October. The 13 award categories including New Build of the Year, Refurbishment of the Year, Product of the Year, and Low Carbon Manager of the Year, with the awards to be presented in London next February. Organisations wishing to participate in the latest “100 Hours” campaign can sign up at: www.100hours.co.uk
