Brandon Medical recently received £50,000 after winning the “Outstanding Business Achievement” award”, as it represented Yorkshire at the British Chambers of Commerce’s Chambers Awards 2009, held at Greenwich’s National Maritime Museum.
The Leeds company was rewarded for its “dedication to innovation” and strong growth over the past 18 months. A second national award won by the company for “Technology through Innovation” recognised Brandon’s HD-LED medical lighting and Symposia (see HEJ – August 2009) medical audio-visual systems. The HD-LED light source was developed both to give surgeons the best possible lighting during surgery, and to be highly energy-efficient. The inexpensive-toproduce lights are also reportedly easily disposable of and recyclable. The Symposia medical audio-visual system was developed for live surgery and surgical training purposes.
