A team from duct cleaning specialist Ductbusters has worked out-of-hours and at weekends for a two-week period to clean and sterilise the ductwork feeding five of the operating theatres at Stockport’s Stepping Hill Hospital.
The contract called both for a very fast turnaround and working round the functioning of the theatres. After cleaning and sterilisation using a biocidally laden steam, and verification tests to ensure compliance with HVCA TR19 and HTM 03-1 standards, the ductwork was shown to comply and the Certificate Of Cleanliness was issued. John Keelan, estates manager, Stepping Hill Hospital, said: “The team was very unobtrusive and efficient. They responded to our approach very quickly. We had used them before and been impressed, and they definitely didn’t disappoint second time around.” Ian Wall, Ductbusters’ sales director, commented: “It is very gratifying when an existing client places this level of trust in us and calls us back in to conduct more cleaning.”
