After successfully being awarded the £4 million design and build contract to construct a new modular operating theatre complex for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, MTX (see also page 9) is now “well under way with the groundworks”, and making final preparations before lifting the 35 prefabricated building modules into position.
A “leading supplier of modular operating theatre suites”, MTX has already completed a number of smaller building contracts at Leicester General Hospital. The busy teaching hospital provides specialist care including cardiovascular, cancer, fertility, orthopaedic, and renal services. The new theatre complex, planned for autumn 2010 completion, will provide four laminar flow operating theatres and a pre-operative assessment facility.
