Immediate and long-term assistance is vital in helping disaster-affected communities rebuild their lives. Without access to well-trained and dedicated staff, aid agencies cannot carry out their life-saving relief and development work.
That is where RedR-IHE comes in. Over the past 25 years it has trained and placed thousands of aid workers – engineers, health and security professionals – with humanitarian aid agencies worldwide to help affected communities rebuild local infrastructure and to provide services such as shelter, water and healthcare.
Responding to humanitarian crises, RedR-IHE has recently placed a number of health workers, shelter specialists, water and sanitation engineers and logisticians on assignments in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Sudan, Chad and Pakistan.
To improve aid workers’ skills, RedRIHE has developed an extensive training programme, ranging from water supply and power generation to security workshops and nutrition in emergencies. In the past twelve months alone, it has run 139 training events in 15 countries providing training for over 2,700 people.
