The good looks and guaranteed lifetime antimicrobial performance of Marshall-Tufflex’s award-winning Odyssey Bio Trunking Solution made it the perfect choice for a refurbishment project within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Aberdeen-based building services engineers CCDP LLP specified the system for installation in the hospital’s inpatient and outpatient radiology departments, which have been upgraded to host the hospital’s new PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication) system. Triple compartment Odyssey Bio was installed at dado level (with some vertical risers) to deliver power and data to workstations. The project also included the installation of Marshall-Tufflex Sterling PowerPoles to service “islands” of desks within the PACS unit.
The Bio Trunking system was selected for a number of reasons, according to Niall Wood, electrical associate with CCDP. “A lot of our clients like the Odyssey profile because, being completely curved, it is an aesthetically pleasing system,” he explained. “Being able to specify Odyssey with antimicrobial functionality was an obvious benefit given its ability to prevent cross-infection. Because the antimicrobial agent is an integral part of the PVC-U, we know that the system’s effectiveness will not be compromised by scratches, and that the antimicrobial element will not rub off.”
The Odyssey Bio was installed by Sparks Mechanical Services and supplied by Ross Electrical, both of Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.
