ReSound Health has praised the role of the local community trust in helping it to deliver its first LIFT project in Plymouth over four weeks early.
The £1.4 million GP surgery and community health centre at Ernesettle was constructed by Midas Projects (UK), part of The Midas Group, who together with Sutton Harbour Holdings and Cyril Sweett make up the private sector partners of ReSound.
Paul McLaughlin, director of Midas Projects, commented: “The project has gone well, I think mainly in light of the lengthy consultation and planning process with Plymouth NHS Teaching PCT and the local community via the Budshead Trust.”
Midas also managed to achieve the use of 87% local labour on the scheme, giving weight to the claims that LIFT is a valuable tool in overall regeneration of local areas.
The new community surgery will serve the needs of some 3,700 patients and replace the converted residential property, which had been serving residents of the local housing estate since the 1950s.
