Designer and manufacturer of embedded “smart terminals” JAOtech has won an initial contract worth over £2 million from Hospedia, reportedly the UK’s largest patient bedside entertainment provider, to renew patient bedside terminals in over 150 UK NHS hospitals.
The 12-month contract is the first phase in a Hospedia programme to renew its “estate” of terminals, which it says will benefit up to 10 million patients a year. The JAOtech terminals form the “front end” for the new Hospedia T3 system, which will offer over 20 TV channels and free unlimited outbound calls, free radio, email, web browsing, and games. Hospedia is also launching an on- demand film service, and this year plans adding further services, such as “catch-up TV content”, audio books, and more healthcare information. Ben Packman, Hospedia’s commercial and media director, said: “The JAOtech terminal gives T3 users a front end that is much easier to use, with a brand new touchscreen unit, a bigger screen, and better features. The terminals are easy to clean and sterilise, and, once established, will also be suitable for Trusts wishing to use them for clinical access and other such applications.” Warren Kressinger-Dunn, JAOtech’s CEO (pictured), added: “Our terminals provide an outstanding multimedia experience, and meet very exacting hygiene and noise demands.”
