Annabelle’s excellent account of herself

Having completed her first ever London Marathon on 25 April, raising almost £1,000 (including gift aid) for Macmillan Cancer Support, the Institute’s accounts manager Annabelle Morgan (HEJ – April 2010), has already put her name in the ballot for next year’s race.

She said: “I first began running after being inspired by seeing, on television, participants in one of the Race for Life events, which raise money to fund research into better breast cancer treatment, and have been hooked ever since. One of my ambitions was to complete the London Marathon before I reached 40, which I have now fulfilled (she turned 39 earlier this year). “Running the London Marathon was a great experience; there was a period about 16 miles in when I really felt the pressure, but overall I was pleased to complete the course without too many problems. Since completing the Marathon I have run some of the fastest miles I have ever achieved, in fact in under 10 minutes, and am really hoping I can participate in next year’s London event.” She added: “A big ‘thank you’ to all those who sponsored me; the money is going to a great cause.” For the record, Annabelle Morgan completed the course in five hours, 45 minutes, and 44 seconds.
