Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES), one of the UK’s largest mechanical and electrical building services businesses, has been awarded a £6.7 million contract by Vinci to design and install mechanical and electrical services for a new primary care and treatment centre, the St Catherine’s Health Centre, in Birkenhead on the Wirral, for Wirral NHS Trust.
A three-year project will see existing facilities demolished, and a new building constructed. BBES will undertake the enabling works, construct a new plant room to serve the existing estate, and install the full mechanical and electrical services for the five-storey, 11,000 m2 health centre. Services will include women’s health, physiotherapy, mental healthcare, podiatry, imaging, and community-based GP services. IHP, a Vinci and Sir Robert McAlpine joint venture, is the appointed contractor under the P21 process headed by Vinci. The architect is One Creative Environments.
