A new £19.5 million Hartlepool healthcare facility features three attractive floor finishes from commercial vinyl manufacturer Polyflor’s Expona Design luxury vinyl tile collection.
“Hard-wearing and easy-to-maintain” Polyflor Expona Blond Indian Apple wood effect, Atlantic Slate, and Grey Marble Mosaic stone effect, were specified throughout the “One Life Hartlepool” building to complement the light, spacious, and high-end design feel. The centre was developed by Care Partnerships 25, the LIFTCo for Tees Valley and South Durham, and built for Hartlepool PCT, to provide primary health care services from the 2.6 acre site. Construction work was contracted to Accent Foundation, with the on-site construction works sub-contracted to Carillion (building) and SES (M&E). Designed by West and Machell Architects, the facility boasts a spectacular threestorey central atrium running its full length. Architect Chris Webb said: “The atrium certainly steals the show, but great care was taken in designing every corner, and choosing the finishing materials. Polyflor’s Expona range provided the aesthetic quality we were after, without compromising on ease of maintenance and durability.” The Expona luxury vinyl tiles, installed by Leeds-based Tyndale Carpets, feature a polyurethane surface treatment, and are said to be suitable for “very heavy” use.
