Online CPD system launched

MyPath, a new online recording system developed by a partnership of Institutions in a project led by Engineering UK (and now overseen by the Engineering Council), will enable members to log on via a link on the IHEEM website and record progress with their Continuing Professional Development, the lessons learned, and the benefits gained.

The service will allow uploading of “documentary evidence” where appropriate, while members working towards registration at Eng Tech, IEng, or CEng level will be able to record their evidence of competence, and their progress towards meeting the relevant competencies set out in UK-SPEC. There is also the facility to allow access to a mentor or supporter to review the evidence online. Chris Parker, IHEEM recruitment and membership manager, said: “In the autumn 2008 survey of members, the feature that most wished to see as part of the Institute website was an online CPD recording system. We are pleased to have worked with other institutions and Engineering UK in developing MyPath, which I am sure will provide a convenient method for all members to record their professional development. Members can also be assured that any data uploaded will be held securely.” MyPath may be accessed at www.iheem.org.uk/My-Path. The website also contains a useful section on CPD, designed to give guidance to members.
