VINCI Park has won a 30-year PFI contract to design, build, finance, and operate, a new multi-storey car park at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust’s Lister Hospital site in Stevenage.
It will invest £7.9 m to fund construction of the 667-space car park, providing a well-lit covered entranceway connecting the car park to the hospital, new pay-onfoot technology, and a new landscaped plaza area at the front of the hospital, as well as installing and maintaining a “living green wall” – a first for VINCI Park – and provide wind turbines and solar panels to generate electricity for use in the car park. Due for completion this September, the car park will almost treble – to 83 – the number of designated “blue badge” parking spaces available. In addition to the DBFO agreement, VINCI Park has won a five-year management agreement for the car parks at the Trust’s two other main hospitals, in Welwyn Garden and Hertford. This follows three successful years of managing the car parks at all three sites.
