The Healthcare Facilities Consortium’s 2010/2011 Annual Conference, at Manchester’s Old Trafford stadium from 7-8 March, will be themed “Doing more with less – fact or fiction? Reality or hype”.
The first day will examine the “Fact or Fiction?” issue “to help delegates understand what is fact and what is fiction” in the current climate. Three work streams will offer the chance to delve into the issue in more detail:
• “Management / knowledge” will examine “knowledge management”, and how this impacts on day-to-day management of issues and staff.
• “Built environment/buildings” will review “the facts and fiction behind the kind of savings that can be made through the use of our buildings”, and how the built environment can be adjusted to better suit the service’s current needs.
• “Staff Management solutions” will focus on issues around staffing, recruitment, and retention.
Other presentations will include: “New Cleaning Standards, PAS5748 Cleanliness in healthcare facilities” – Dr Liz Jones, head of Patient Environment, Department of Health; “Revising management and technique to improve performance” – Kevin Oxley, director of operations, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust; Criminal Implications and Crisis Management – Chris Green, partner and business centre manager, Weightman, and “Project Argus Health” (exploring the possible consequences and risks for the health sector following a terrorist attack) – Paul Donlevey, National Counter Terrorism Security Office.
