Rickmansworth-based regional contracting company Kier Southern has secured further work at Ealing Hospital in West London, where it is currently building a new cardiac catheter laboratory. The latest award, creating the hospital’s first MRI scanner suite, is valued at £2.5 million and brings the total value of work on site to over £4 million. Both contracts have been awarded to Kier Southern as an approved contractor under the NHS Estates ProCure21 framework agreement.
Phil Durigan, managing director of Kier Southern, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen once more to carry out vital improvements to Ealing’s health services. Again, we shall be making every effort to enable the hospital to continue functioning as usual while work is carried out.”
The new MRI accommodation will be formed by ten 13-metre long cabinstyle modular units that will be precision manufactured and fitted out offsite, using modern building techniques. Each weighing up to nine tonnes, they will be hoisted above rooftop level and stacked together to create a new two-storey MRI facility that will be integrated into the adjacent radiography department.
