Travel bursary deadline imminent

January this year saw the launch of the inaugural IHEEM international travel bursary award. (HEJ – January 2011) This award is one of the ways in which the Institute is seeking to develop opportunities for members to develop their careers, and is open to all Graduate and young members.

Two awards of grants of up to £5,000 each are available to young IHEEM members in the developmental stage of their career to take part in a healthcare engineering project in a developing nation. Greg Markham, chair of the IHEEM Membership Committee, said: “Receipt of this bursary will provide the successful applicant with an ideal opportunity to undertake some professional development, away from their usual place of work, benefitting themselves and helping to provide much professional support in the country visited. “IHEEM provides professional development opportunities for its members. I would encourage all young members to make an application for this bursary, which I am sure will bring new experiences and rewards for the membership.” Full details of the scheme may be found on the IHEEM website, and eligible members are reminded to make their applications by 31 March.
