Window casts light on future growth

Britplas, which doubled its turnover last year, has launched a new slimline aluminium profile for its popular patented Safevent window system.

Said to offer neater sight lines and improved thermal properties, while maintaining “outstanding strength and durability”, the profile has helped the company recently secure what it says are two of the UK’s largest mental health fenestration contracts to date, both valued at over £3 million. The first is for two new build facilities for Tayside NHS, at the Murray Royal Hospital in Perth, and the Perth and Stracathro Hospital in Angus, and the second an extensive refurbishment project at the Mount and Newsam Centre in Leeds for Leeds PCT. The Safevent was launched in 2006 primarily for mental health sector use. However Britplas says the windows, of which it has already installed over 10,000, have “many other benefits”, including allowing maximum natural ventilation. These have led to their specification “by the majority of NHS Trusts and many private healthcare groups”. The Safevent comprises a doublefronted window and free sliding internal, or external, sash. The window has one glazed area, with the other fitted with a stainless steel invisible mesh, for security “in a sensitive, subtle manner”. Able to withstand “considerable force”, the Safevent is available in aluminium or uPVC, and can be manufactured in “virtually any” colour. Manual, mechanical, and automatic electronic versions are available.
