Brandon Medical has supplied and installed critical care pendants, medical lighting and power systems, and operating theatre control panels, for the £311 million Pinderfields and Pontefract PFI hospitals project in West Yorkshire.
The project has delivered a new acute inpatient centre for the Wakefield district at the Pinderfields site, while the new Pontefract hospital provides outpatient facilities including day surgery, scanning, and other diagnostics. Critical care and A&E areas feature 47 Brandon Atlas critical care pendants installed at each bedhead. Meanwhile 21 operating theatres at both sites are equipped with Brandon Medical’s Galaxy Ultra HD-LED lighting and control and power systems. Brandon says Galaxy Ultra emits “the perfect cold light”, which eradicates excess heat during surgery, and offers high intensity “fat beam” illumination, red balance control, and full spectrum colour rendition. Each bespoke Brandon operating theatre control panel can include IPS controls, video camera controls, and UCV controls, while 120 Astralite HD-LED minor surgical lights and 70 Coolview halogen examination lights are also installed at the hospitals.
