The new IHEEM website, launched in October last year, is proving to be a considerable success. The 20th of April marked six months since the website was re-launched, and the Institute’s “webmaster”, Danielle Silman, says that, in that period, the site welcomed over 8,000 unique visitors from more than 100 different countries, who collectively made over 15,600 “visits” to the site.
The new, improved website (www.iheem.org.uk) offers a wide range of useful tools and information for IHEEM members and non-members alike. Key features include:
• The My IHEEM function enables members to view and amend their registered details and pay for their subscriptions and events online, at a time and place to suit them.
• The Company Affiliate Directory – a search facility that allows all users to search IHEEM Company Affiliates by name, services, or products.
• The Find an Expert feature (pictured) – available to all users, allows a search to be carried out by region to locate an Authorising Engineer (AE) for Decontamination or Medical Gas.
• The Find a Member feature enables visitors to verify whether or not a person is an IHEEM member – which the Institute says is particularly helpful for new employers wishing to verify details on an applicant’s CV.
• Events Calendar – A “quick glance” calendar, enabling users to see what events are taking place.
• Online booking facility – All IHEEM events are available to book online instantly, with the user receiving an emailed receipt. Events search facility – All events are categorised into IHEEM events, Branch Events, or non-IHEEM events. Within each category users can search for a particular event.
• Branch pages – Each IHEEM branch has its own sub-page, detailing activities and events, and key contact details.
• A Latest News section – updated regularly. r Online CPD: MyPath – The IHEEM MyPath online professional development system – for members’ use in the planning, recording, and reporting, of CPD evidence – either towards obtaining professional registration through IHEEM as Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or Chartered Engineer (CEng), or for maintaining their own CPD.
• Instant Student Applications – Students wishing to become IHEEM members can now apply online. Online applications for other grades of membership are “in the pipeline”.
• A Contact Us feature – via which users can contact IHEEM’s offices instantly via an online form.
Danielle Silman added: “April also saw the IHEEM “LinkedIn” group pass the century mark. With many LinkedIn members coming from abroad, it shows how far the internet can reach.” Members and non-members can connect with IHEEM on LinkedIn at: www.linkedin.com/groups?trk=anet_ug_ grppro&gid=2242877&about=, or Twitter@IHEEM: http://twitter.com/IHEEM
