IHEEM has just appointed a new events & education manager, Siân Barker, who was previously events manager for the Mineral Products Association (MPA) a trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, lime, mortar, and silica sand industries.
The Association is governed by a board with committee and regional structure. It has 405 member companies, which include 9 major international and global companies, while its membership also encompasses “the vast majority” of the independent SME companies operating in the field in the UK. Sian Barker’s role, during a 16-year spell with the MPA, was to organise and manage large conferences, seminars, and private dining events held in the UK. At IHEEM she will administer and manage the Institute’s events, education, training, and one-day seminar activities under the direction of the Education and Training Committee, and play a significant part in the administration, organisation, and management, of the Healthcare Estates annual conference, exhibition, and awards dinner, working closely with the direction of the Conference and Exhibitions Committee. She will also help to produce the Institute News pages of HEJ, and would be pleased to receive potential material for inclusion. She said: “I am delighted to be taking on this new challenge, and I am looking forward to engaging with our members at this year’s conference, and through the future seminar programme.”
