Kaba Door Systems has been acquired by Japanese company Nabtesco Corporation, and is now to be known as Gilgen Door Systems UK.
The deal, worth in excess of 240 million Swiss Francs (approximately £150 m) includes Kaba Door Systems, Kaba Gilgen, and all other entities of the Kaba Door Automation business unit across Europe and China. Peter Faerber, Kaba MD (pictured), said: “I am very excited about this acquisition; it represents a positive step in the long-term development of our business, opening up opportunities in the USA and Asia. This merger also makes available the technological knowhow of a multinational company active in a number of sophisticated business areas. “The complementary characteristics of both companies will ensure that UK customers and suppliers can expect very little change, the legal entity having no impact on existing contracts. It’s a case of business as usual.” With the acquisition, Nabtesco will turn over £1.1 billion and employ 5,000 people in 31 companies throughout South East Asia, the US, and Europe.
