GS1 certification for wristband

Following its recent appointment as a GS1 Solutions Partner (GS1 is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that works to improve supply chain efficiency, for instance by developing global barcode and RFID standards), SATO UK has received GS1 certification for its newly developed patient wristband identification system.

Incorporating SATO’s compact CG2 barcode printer, SATO LabelGallery software, and the company’s existing patient identification wristbands, the system has been approved for UK healthcare facility use. MD of SATO International Europe, Brian Lang, said: “The decision to certify SATO’s new patient wristband system reflects SATO’s depth of experience in providing identification solutions to the healthcare industry.” The system, which meets the required standard for 2D barcode print quality, was approved following stringent tests to determine its conformance to the specific patient information structure required for such wristbands. The certification follows the UK Government’s instruction that the NHS adopts GS1-recommended technologies wherever barcodes are used.
