An “intelligent” window control package that can be fully integrated within its building energy management systems to maximise natural ventilation’s benefits has been introduced by Trend Control Systems.
The company explained: “MotorLink technology allows window position to be controlled and monitored with unrivalled accuracy, and provides near silent operation and enhanced safety and security. With the technology an integral part of the BEMS, window control can be easily coordinated with that of the other HVAC services, – to boost energy savings and optimise conditions building-wide.” “Basic elements” include “intelligent” window/vent actuators and the motor controllers powering them. The BACNet-based motor control modules can operate on IP or MS/TP networks and communicate directly (IP version) or via a router (MS/TP) with the rest of the BEMS, where Trend IQ controls determine when and how much each window should be opened or closed. Window operation is monitored via the BEMS supervisor (operator interface). Trend added: “MotorLink provides precise feedback of window position, enabling millimetre by millimetre control, eliminating the need to regularly close the windows and reset them.”
