Dorma equips innovative facility

Over 1,000 Dorma door closers and floor springs feature throughout the new Evelina Children’s Hospital in London, along with nearly 2,000 lock cases.

The door closer specified is the versatile TS 83 rack and pinion closer featuring a "thinking" backcheck, which offers a resistance in direct proportion to the door acceleration as it is opened. This helps protect the door and surround from contact damage – particularly useful in a busy children's hospital. Other features include a hold-open option and adjustable closing and latching speeds.

The floor springs are Dorma BTS 75s. These universal floor springs feature a hydraulically controlled closing cycle, adjustable closing speed and mechanical backcheck. The required spring strength on a BTS 75 is easilyachieved by simply turning an integral adjustment screw. The lock cases, which are sealed, have a self-adjusting follower and a maintenance-free pre-lubricated silent latch action.
