NHS Protect, which incorporates some functions of the former NHS Security Management Service (NHS SMS), and provides policy and operational guidance on management of security within the NHS in England.
Has signed a three-way agreement with the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to curb violence and anti-social behaviour in the NHS. The Joint Working Agreement will promote and support local arrangements and seek to implement best practice.
