Delegate places are still available for this year’s IFHE 22nd Annual Congress, to be held from 13-17 April on board the Norwegian coastal steamer, the Hurtigruten MS Midnatsol, as it journeys south down Norway’s scenic west coast.
The itinerary will include visits to hospitals in locations including Tromsø, Stokmarknes, Trondheim (the city’s new St Olavs University Hospital – pictured), and Bergen, plus a range of other ‘technical installations’, with the hosting IFHE member organisation, Norwegian healthcare engineering association, the Forum for Sykenhuses Tekniske Ledelse (FSTL), aiming for a programme incorporating over 50 presentations from representatives of 19 different countries. Presentation topics will include:
• New hospital technology.
• Information technology.
• Hospital design and architecture in Scandinavia.
• Environmental issues.
• Estate management and maintenance.
• Data security.
All presentations will be in English, and there will also be an exhibition on board showcasing products and services from a number of key suppliers. Other features will include an IFHE Council meeting on 13 April, followed by a ‘get-together’ evening in Tromsø; an evening celebration honouring past IFHE President and FSTL honorary member, Lawrence (Laurie) Hadley; an ‘Argentinian evening’ in anticipation of the 23rd IFHE Congress, to be held in Buenos Aires in October 2014, and a Gala Dinner.
