New payment arrangements set out

As IHEEM members will see from the report of the Institute’s 2011 AGM (see page 10), with effect from the beginning of this month, there will be a change to the timescales within which annual subscriptions should be paid.

Members, who will have received their annual invoices for payment in recent weeks, now have until 31 March to pay the subscription in full, or to set up a direct debit mandate. IHEEM recruitment/membership manager, Chris Parker, says: “If payments are not received by 31 March, privileges of membership will be suspended until the subscription is paid. If the subscription is not paid by 30 June, the member’s name will be forwarded to Council for their name to be struck off the List of Members, and membership will cease as from that date. There will be the opportunity to re-instate membership upon payment of all outstanding subscriptions, together with a 20% administration fee based on the current year’s subscription.” Richard Boyce, IHEEM acting Chief Executive, comments: “Following recommendation by Council, and with members’ agreement at the AGM, this change has been implemented as a further improvement in the governance of the Institute, and as a further reduction in time and money spent in pursuing outstanding subscriptions. This will allow for more investment in the core functions of the Institute. “IHEEM members are, by practice, all professionals, and there is an expectation that timely payment of the subscription forms an essential part of professional conduct. These changes bring IHEEM into line with many other professional institutes with which IHEEM members will be familiar.” Any member experiencing difficulty in paying their subscription should contact the membership department (T: 023 9282 3186; Email: chris.parker@iheem.org.uk) to discuss the range of options.
