The 2011 IHEEM Annual Awards Dinner was held at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel, an imposing building with an extensive glass façade which dominates the local skyline, on the evening of 1 November, following the first day of last year’s annual conference and exhibition. An audience of 270, drawn from the healthcare estates, architectural, and construction communities, enjoyed a three-course meal and drinks both pre- and post-event, and witnessed the presentation of the five IHEEM Awards, while entertainment was provided throughout the evening by soul, R&B singer, and balladeer, Samantha Murphy, with a varied repertoire of songs ranging from Eva Cassidy and Amy Macdonald, to Adele, Steve Winwood, Kings of Leon, and Welsh chanteuse, Duffy. Before the awards presentation, IHEEM’s North-West Branch chairman, Alistair Cameron, welcomed guests with a short speech, during which he praised the quality of the event’s organisation, of the dinner, and the entertainment, and provided a little light relief with some characteristically dry humour of his own.
